Peñalba Room

Double room of 22 m² with bathroom adapted for people with disabilities. The room is named after the mountain visible from it, Montenegro or Peñalba. A spacious room decorated with images of red roses. Designed for a family with one or two children.

Montenegro or Peñalba is the highest peak in the municipality of Artziniega and one of the most distinctive in the Ayala Valley (692 m). On one of its slopes is located one of the most emblematic and well-known places in the entire region: the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Encina, a Gothic-style temple remodeled at the end of the 16th century.

Montenegro, as sailors called it, was used as a visual reference point by ships approaching land, as it was often the only thing they could see from the sea. Its original vegetation, classified as Cantabrian holm oak forest, gave the mountain a darker appearance than the surrounding hills, hence its name “Montenegro.”
